SVOD majors Amazon and Netflix have been predicted to drive OTT revenues over the next five years. According to a study from Juniper Research suggests, OTT revenues will surge from $64 billion in 2017 to 120 billion in 2022.
Netflix has announced to spend more than $6 billion on original content this year, which is a key factor that hints towards such a growth.
Juniper Research report author Lauren Foye said, “Success will hinge on whether these providers can continue to produce hits like Stranger Things [pictured]. As consumers become more fluid in their uptake and loyalty to video services, OTT could just as easily see users switch off.”
