According to a new report, Chinese tech giant Tencent made attempts to acquire Spotify earlier this year.
Tencent tried to acquire Spotify so as to expand its reach in the music streaming market beyond China and Asia. Tencent’s own music streaming unit boosts of 600 million users across 600 million users.
Hopeful to acquire Spotify which is the most popular music streaming service in the world that has more than 140 million active users and more than 60 million paying customers, Tencent wishes to expand beyond its current base of China and Asia, to more than 60 countries.
