Discovery Launches Premium SVoD Service in Italy – Dplay Plus

Discovery launches its premium subscription-based streaming service – Dplay Plus, in an effort to expand its digital services in Italy. The premium service is supposed to be available through a dedicated mobile app and will mainly include the content of Discovery Science, Discovery Channel, and Animal Planet.

This announcement comes after Discovery launched its premium streaming service in the Netherlands in February. Also, earlier in April, Discovery announced its partnership with BBC for launching a global streaming service by 2020.

Kasia Kieli, President and Managing Director, Discovery EMEA region, said: “on the success of our existing business in Italy, here we are launching Dplay Plus, a premium subscription service, allowing viewers to access high quality content, whenever and wherever they want it.”
