The European over-the-top (OTT) / Video-on-Demand (VOD) services market is booming in terms of financial investments, new features and service launches.
There are 450+ unique video on demand service providers in the region. Around EUR150 million was invested in 2016 in content and technology firms so as to trigger the expansion of connected video services.
Some challenges coming in the way of the growth of the market in the near term include intense competition, price sensitivity among consumers, regulatory uncertainty due to Brexit policies and the European commission’s digital market strategy.
