Amazon names India as the fastest growing market for its online video streaming platform Prime Video. Amazon has acquired original Hindi content which has paid dividends. Currently, Prime Videos’ library boasts content in five regional languages.
James Farrell, content head, Amazon Prime Video Asia Pacific, quoted, “We want to figure out how do we do more in the south. We haven’t announced any originals yet from the south but we are looking to do as much as can be done.”
Considering the growing popularity of digital video consumption in India which is set to touch 500 million by 2020, the SVOD service is planning to launch up to ten originals for India in 2018.
