Kocowa which is like Hulu for Korean video streaming, has been started in the United States. KBS, MBC and SBC, the three largest Korean broadcasters have created the joint venture KCP Global to showcase Korean programmes including dramas, K-POP shows and variety shows to the Korean audience in the US which is estimated to be around 8 million viewers.
Programmes will be shown only a few hours after they have been broadcast in Korea, with English subtitles. It is being offered with 3 subscription options – daily (for $0.99), monthly ($6.99) and yearly ($69.99). Apart from offering uninterrupted viewing without ads, the monthly and annual options also include a month-long free trial.
Kocowa also offers an ad-based option that lets viewers access content within 24 hours of release for viewing free content. The streaming service will be available towards the later part of the year on TV apps as well.
