Mexico’s Digital Video Market Grows 39% in 2016

According to a new IHS Technology report, Mexico’s digital video market including the subscription (SVOD) and transactional (TVOD) video on demand services grew an estimated 39% in 2016, establishing Mexico as Latin America’s second largest online video content distribution market.

Competition between OTT services such as Netflix, ClaroVideo, Blim helps drive the market growth, says the report. The total online video consumer spending in Mexico was 3.5 billion pesos ($218 million) in the last year, as compared to the TV ad spending, which was $2.9 billion in 2016.
