According to a report from Midia Research founder and music industry expert Mark Mulligan, the streaming music subscriptions have reached the 100 million mark in December 2016, as compared to that of 66 million at the end of 2015 and 41 million at the end of 2014.
According to the report, North American subscribers have grown from some 8 million in 2014, to an estimated 20 million in 2016 and are likely to grow 24 million in 2017. Western Europe had 12 million subs in 2014, an estimated 25 million in 2016 and the number could rise to 31 million in 2017.
