Foreign ownership of online video services has been limited to 20% stake, however, Netflix continues with its online streaming service in Russia despite this new law.
Netflix may benefit from some parts of the law, for instance, the ownership limits apply to services that have a daily viewership of more than 100,000 however Netflix hasn’t so far come out with how many subscribers it has in Russia. The new law is like the law implemented two years ago which also limited foreign ownership of Russian media companies to 20% stakes. Read More
