A new Video-on-demand service is being launched by Discover Digital in South Africa to rival Netflix and Showmax. The new Digital Entertainment on Demand (DEOD) service will let Discover Digital collaborate with regional telecommunications operators in the domestic market as well as in other African countries. Its making an entry into a market where not only Naspers has a foothold but there is also the presence of global competitors like Netflix and three other players.

The service is being provided at a price range of ZAR 49 to ZAR 99 per month depending on the pack which will broadcast global news channels- Euronews/Africa News, France 24, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, BBC World News and Russia Today as well as DEOD Sports network.
