Amazon India set to expand Prime program

Roshan Dwivedi Published on : 25 January 2018

Amazon India is all set to expand its Prime subscription service as a part of its customer retention strategy. It eyes to offer more than 25 million products in the Prime service at a delivery speed of one or two days.

In addition, the company will invest more than INR 100 crore on expanding video streaming services and producing original content in 2018.

Amazon who is also introducing a music service in India, similar to Google Music without any additional cost, has been performing well in top cities. However, it is yet to create a vibe among smaller cities and towns, which are the next frontier for e-commerce firms.

Jamil Ghani, Vice-President, Prime International, Amazon, quoted, “The combination of benefits is broadly appealing. We see in every geography, including India, a distribution of members across a broad spectrum of the population. Some members join because of the fast and free shipping, some join because of a video but it is broadly appealing. We’ve acquired members from 300-plus cities.”
