Comcast eyes the Oscars in video-on-demand

Roshan Dwivedi Published on : 09 February 2016

With the success of Super Bowl 50 live streaming by CBS, Comcast is now eyeing the Oscars for live streaming the Oscars! They are driving content on their video-on-demand platform for the promotion of VoD rentals. One such is “Best of Oscars” signed on with ABC & the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Insiders say by generating interest, Comcast will be able to find out exactly how much fans are willing to pay for this year’s main event on VoD.

Daniel Spinosa, Comcast’s G.M of movies, pay-per-view and commerce said “We’re focused on the overall VOD experience… but I expect if we do this well, we will pick up additional transactions” He also added, “The Oscars is one of the largest TV-viewing events of the year, so it’s a great thing to work with ABC and the Academy on this”.
