Just after we’ve heard Viu reaching 4 million subscribers in Asian regions in the very first year, the video streaming platform announces the launch of its first OTT platform in the Philippines. Viu has recorded over 218 million video views in the third quarter of 2016, doubling that of preceding three months.
The OTT platform’s line-up includes Korean content from the top four Korean broadcasters -SBS, KBS, MBC, CJ E&M, and Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Indonesian, Taiwanese, Hollywood and recently-added Thai content. According to a Nielsen report, 45% of online users watch VOD services at least once a day.
