Indian VOD is heating up. The region is becoming one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. Cisco predicts that the region could have around 650 million smartphones by 2019, while there were only 16 million TV households in the country. Data prices and introduction of 4G faster mobile internet networks. Mobile video on demand services consumption is as high as 70%. The shift in consumption of video is tilting towards mobile. Also more and more content is being created specifically for mobile. Video traffic is expected to be 66% of mobile data traffic by 2019 in India, according to Cisco.
