Eastern Europe SVOD market to six-fold

The number of SVOD users in Eastern Europe countries is expected to reach 18.2 million by 2021, which is a huge increase from that of 5.6 million expected at the end of this year. According to Digital TV research, Russia is expected to lead the growth market.

Russia accounted for 44% of the region’s SVOD subscribers in this year, and will take half of the total in 2021. By platforms Netflix will lead the way, having 3.5 million subscribers. Russia’s Ivi will rank second, having 2.4 million paying customers, leading Russian and Ukrainian OTT platform Megogo with 1.3 million, and Russia-specific video streaming platform Okko with 1.1 million.
