Netflix Inks Content Deal with Alibaba’s Video Platform Youku

To win over Chinese audience outside China, Netflix signs an exclusive content licensing deal with Alibaba’s video streaming platform – Youku. “I Hear You”, the popular romantic comedy series of Youku will be now available to all the 148 million Netflix subscribers in 190 countries.

Earlier, Netflix had bought the distribution rights for Youku’s detective thriller – Day and Night in 2017, which was highly appreciated by Netflix’s Chinese subscribers worldwide.

Chief Editor of Youku, Brandy Zhang, commented: “More than 50 original productions have been distributed overseas in the past two years, as we see growing interest from international distributors. We want to create even more quality content that resonates with viewers around the world.”
