OTT video services in Western Europe are all prepared to report some unbelievable revenue figures in 2020. The numbers will be almost the double of what is being made in 2015!
According to Digital TV Research forecasts, the regional OTT revenues will zoom past an incredible US$13.7 billion across the region in 2020, a very steep increase from US$6.3 billion expected by the end of 2015.
The UK will contribute the largest proportion of the additional revenues added between now and 2020, the research house said, ahead of France and Italy respectively.
Let’s assume Digital TV got all its numbers right. That would mean at least 32.2% of households in Western Europe will have an SVOD package by 2020. This number will be a notable increase on what was recorded by the end of last year. The biggest gainers in the category are Nordics.
