According to reports, over-the-top (OTT) subscriber base will touch a whopping 400 million in the year 2018 and will continue to dominate the traditional Pay-TV services, especially in developed markets.

The global OTT video market is set to grow at CAGR 10% to generate $51.4 billion in 2022.

In North America and European countries, pay-TV providers have jumped into the OTT bandwagon and providing cost-effective video service. According to reports, DirecTV’s Now, Dish Network’s Sling TV, and Sky’s Now TV are among the operators which offer Virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVP) services, linear channels via an internet connection.

Sources also claimed that Dish Networks’ Sling has registered more than 2 million subscribers in the two years while DirecTV Now has secured 1.2 million subscribers within one year of its launch.
