Free services and the threat of piracy in Latin America (LATAM) could not be as big of a threat to over-the-top (OTT) and subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) markets as it may be thought to be as per a research from Digital TV Research.
Revenues from OTT TV episodes and films for 19 LATAM countries is expected to reach $4.60 billion in 2022, up from $1.87 billion as reported in 2016. SVOD continues to be the region’s highest OTT revenue source contributing $2.86 billion by 2022. This accounts for over 3/5th’s of the total.
