One of India’s biggest broadcasters, Star India along with its (Over-the-Top) OTT service Hotstar, is mulling the implementation of Virtual Reality (VR), to heighten viewer experience during the 2018 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – one of the biggest sporting events of the region.

At the CII Big Picture Summit 2017, Hotstar’s consumer and revenue head Prabh Singh spoke about the innovations being planned around the IPL. The company has been experimenting with score overlays too so that cricket enthusiasts can keep track of live scores while watching other VOD content.
