Television Broadcasts (TVB) aims an OTT expansion in Southeast Asia

Television Broadcasts (TVB), leading free to air broadcaster of Hong Kong is all set to make a mark in the overseas (over-the-top) OTT video sector. TVB is planning to launch a new platform in Thailand and strengthen building plans with Telco and hardware manufacturers.

Also, TVB is joining hands with MVTV in Thailand to come up with a Thai version of TVB Anywhere which is the international (video-on-demand) VOD platform of TVB, available outside of Hong Kong.

TVB Anywhere which was launched last year currently has a subscriber base more than 100,000. Desmond Chan,TVBI’s General Manager, quoted, TVB Anywhere app will be preinstalled on tablet computers manufactured by Alco Electronics, with subscription fees covered by the retail price of the tablets. The tablets are to be exported to North America and may be launched in the second quarter.
