Video on Demand subs increase by 30% in Australia

VOD on the Rise

Australians are increasingly embracing subscription video-on-demand services (SVOD) delivered via internet as per Sydney-based market research firm Telsyte.

Australian subscriptions to these services were up by about 30% in the period ended June 2017.

About 49% of Australian households either subscribe to either pay-TV or SVOD services as per Australian SVOD Market Study 2017. About 11% subscribed to both up from 38% in 2015.

As consumers increasingly sign up for content on-demand services which are frequently accessed across multiple devices.

Even though Netflix is the market leader, as per Telsyte, consumers will consider several providers leaving room for Stan, Amazon, YouTube Red, Foxtel, Optus Sport and others.
