Walmart thinking over own OTT Service

Stellar success of streaming giants Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etc. have prompted several media and entertainment biggies to join the OTT bandwagon. Walmart is the latest one to join the bandwagon with its very own streaming platform if everything falls into place.

According to reports, Walmart is planning on setting up its own video streaming platform featuring both SVOD and ad-supported business models. Here it may be noted that Walmart is currently owning and operating Vudu.com, a transactional video-on-demand (VoD) and digital sales platform.

In 2012, Walmart launched a disc-to-digital service at stores that let customers convert DVD and Blu-ray disc movies into digital files at free of cost. Walmart representatives are yet to make any official comment on the development.
