If subscribers watch or record live TV, either through a TV or live online, then a TV license will be required. For streaming BBC programmes on iPlayer, too, a license will be needed. A large section of the households is properly licensed and hence are eligible to cover live TV online. That percentage is around 94%. A color TV license costs £147 and anyone watching or recording TV programmes as shown on TV, or anyone downloading BBC programmes on iPlayer will need to purchase this license irrespective of whether viewing on a TV set, computer or other equipment.
