In less than one year, CenturyLink is pulling the plug on its online video platform CenturyLink Stream, a national OTT TV service. The video-on-demand platform will officially end effective March 31, 2018. While the online platform is no longer accepting new subscribers, existing subscribers will have access to the platform’s content till their current subscription period ends.

CenturyLink has shown a willingness to partner with third-party virtual MVPDs, so it won’t be surprising if the company will only be interested in providing an OTT TV option to its broadband-only customers.

Glen Post, the CEO, CenturyLink, quoted, “We are open to looking at other options. Matter of fact, we continually talk with some of these other providers, look at the best ways we can bring that service and also other ways of working with them to reduce our content cost…It does not have to be our product.”
