Indian direct-to-home (DTH) operator Videocon d2h is integrating the Hungama Play video-on-demand (VOD) app to its HD Smart Connect set-top box (STB). Videocon d2h’s HD Smart STB converts existing TV into an Internet-connected TV, delivering 650 channels and services in HD and SD, as well as online digital content on demand. The Hungama service provides some 35,000 hours of content in 12 languages, spanning films, TV series, children’s shows and music videos.

The DTH space in India has seen a flurry of activity recently, with Videocon d2h rival Airtel Digital last week launching an Android TV-powered STB with 500 HD TV channels, Wi-Fi and integrated Netflix. Telco Reliance Jio is also expected to launch an STB with accompanying TV service soon.
