Epix launches car connected app

Epix is introducing its video streaming app for the 2018 Honda Odyssey. The connected car app is set to offer Epix’s movies, series, live channels, curated collections and advanced search. Currently it doesn’t offer downloads but that will be added as a feature soon.

No other premium networks like HBO, Showtime or SVOD’s like Netflix and Hulu have launched a connected car app yet. With Epix’s launch of the connected car app that Honda has built with Delphi Automotive in collaboration with OpenMobile, more networks and automobile makers are likely to emulate the same. Currently, the Epix app will be made available to only passengers in the rear seats however Epix is working on bringing controls such as play, pause and content restrictions to the front seats as well. Honda already allows for volume control from the front seat.
