SVOD service ZEE5 goes global

ZEE5, the SVOD platform of Zee Enterprises is available across 190 countries, a scale on which only OTT giants such as Netflix and Prime Video are operating. The video streaming platform will have a presence on all the leading platforms such as web, Android, and iOS etc. Also, as per sources, very soon it will also debut on smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV stick, and Apple TV. Unlike Netflix’s unified pricing model, ZEE5 will have differential pricing across different markets.

For developed markets such as the US and UK, the service will be available as a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD), while in a few markets of the Middle East and North Africa, there will be a freemium model.

Amit Goenka, CEO, ZEE International, and Z5 Global quoted, “For the premium content, ranging on market’s paying capacity, we have kept subscription between $2 and 10. For some markets, we have kept 100,000 hours of library and ZEE content as ad-supported and a small subscription fee for originals and premium movies.”
