While Netflix and Amazon have not officially come up with territorial subscriber data, according to a report from the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board, Netflix has a strong dominance over Amazon in UK SVOD market. However, Amazon registers a better growth rate of 34% than Netflix (22%).
Apart from these two streaming giants, Now TV, the on-demand service operated by pay-TV broadcaster Sky had a phenomenal year with a staggering growth of 70% in the annual subscription. The SVOD service provider added nothing less than 600,000 subscribers in the last twelve months and currently have 1.4 million subscriptions. This takes the total number of homes with an SVOD service to 9.5 million – up by 24% in 2017.
