Leading OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu had a splendid 2017 and this year’s Emmy nomination is a testimony to that. Streaming giant Netflix has recorded 36 nominations in this year’s Emmy award while arch-rival Amazon Prime and Hulu have earned six and eleven nominations respectively.
The big numbers scored by the SVOD platforms is a testament to the growing popularity of video streaming services across the globe. Netflix currently has 123 million subscribers worldwide whereas Prime Video has more than 100 million subscribers under its belt as said by its CEO Jeff Bezos last spring. Hulu currently boasts 23 million subscribers in the US only.
