As per reports, roughly $872 million was spent by Canadians in SVOD services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video etc.in 2017 which is a 29% increase as compared to 2016. Reports also suggest that OTT access revenue will grow to $1.11 billion in 2018 and may reach $1.58 billion by 2020 resulting in OTT household surpassing TV subscribers in the country. Among other findings, Canadians spent nearly $8.74 billion on traditional cable TV which is a 2% decline in spending as compared to 2016.

Forecasts also reveal that whereas 4.55 million Canadians won’t have traditional television subscriptions in 2018, broadband revenue is expected to generate $8.7 billion during the year.
