SAML 2.0 (Security Assertion Mark-up Language 2.0)

SAML or Security Assertion Mark-up Language is an open standard that allows identity providers (IdP) to pass authorization credentials to service providers (SP). SAML transactions use XML or Extensible Markup Language for standardized communications between the service providers and identity provider. SAML 2.0 enables Single-Sign On (SSO). With SSO, users can log in once to an application/platform by using their login ID and password and those same login credentials can be reused to log into other service providers.

SCTE-35

SCTE-35: The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) standard for digital program insertion messaging, which allows for the precise timing and signaling of ad insertion points within video content. It’s used to mark the ad timings. It’s required for the Server Side Ad Insertion (SSAI).

SD (Standard Definition)

SD (Standard Definition) video specifies the video and audio codecs and file format that allows users to watch video on several electronic devices built to SD standards. SD video supports different formats, including VC-1, H.264, MPEG-4 and MPEG-2. Standard definition has always been a 4:3 aspect ratio with a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels.

SFTP

Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) or SSH File Transfer Protocol facilitates data access and data transfer over a Secure Shell (SSH) data stream. The functionality of SFTP is like that of FTP.  SFTP is an extended version of SSH 2.0. It is used with VPN applications and Transport Layer Security (TLS). In order to prevent passwords and other sensitive information from being transferred over the network, both the data and commands are encrypted in SFTP.

  Single sign-on (SSO) is a user and session authentication service that authorizes a user to use one set of login credentials (e.g., User Name and Password) to access various applications. STB or Set Top Box is a device that receives a digital signal, decode it and display it on a television. The signal can be Internet data  or a television signal and is received via telephone connection or cable. Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) refers to monetization of services that provide unlimited access to a specific program for a regularly charged monthly fee. Subscription Video on Demand (SVOD) services are regarded better compared to cable or broadcast networks as it provides the subscriber with full control and flexibility to start, pause, fast-forward, rewind or stop over the program as preferred.
