Wowza Streaming Engine Pricing

Streaming Engine is Wowza’s flagship media server software. You run it on your own hardware or on a cloud provider, and pricing is based on the number of server instances you run.

  1. One Month of Streaming: $295 one-time. Built for occasional events or unpredictable audiences. It includes the first instance and up to 10 concurrent transcoded channels. Additional instances are $295 each.
  2. Basic Monthly: $195/month. Wowza’s most popular plan, billed monthly. It also includes the first instance and 10 concurrent transcoded channels, with additional instances at $195/month each.
  3. Enterprise: custom pricing. For large-scale, self-hosted streaming. It includes annual plans, discounted rates, hybrid cloud services (CDN, Flowplayer and analytics), offline keys and professional services for custom deployments.

A few details worth knowing before you budget:

  • Transcoded channels: Each instance includes 10 concurrent transcoded channels. Additional channels are $25 each. Overages are billed in full-month increments, based on the highest concurrent count that month.
  • Source streams: Wowza doesn’t limit the number of source streams. Only transcoded channels are counted.
  • Billing flexibility: Month-to-month plans can be changed at the end of any billing period. Annual plans change at the end of the 12-month term.
  • Deployment freedom: You can install it on your own servers, use a preconfigured cloud VM, or deploy fully offline and air-gapped.

Wowza Flowplayer OVP (Streaming Cloud) Pricing

This is Wowza’s managed, cloud-based platform for live and on-demand video, with the CDN, CMS, player and analytics included in every plan.

Plan

Price

What’s Included

Video Platform Growth

$99 one-time

3+3 ingest hours (VOD + live), 512 playback hours, 20 GB storage

Player Only

Custom

Web/HTML5 player plus iOS and Android SDKs, for teams with an existing system

Video Platform Enterprise

Custom

Annual plans, discounted hours and storage, 24×7, simulated live and large-event streaming

Two details to plan around:

  • Hours-based usage. Streaming hours count the time your stream is running. Viewer hours count the total time your audience spends watching. For example, 20 viewers watching a 30-minute event use 10 viewer hours.
  • Contract term. Wowza OVP plans are signed for one year, paid either monthly or annually upfront. If you exceed your included usage, Wowza offers pay-as-you-go overage so your stream keeps running.

How Wowza CDN Pricing Works

Wowza CDN lets you scale Streaming Engine with delivery over Wowza’s own network. It supports single or multi-bitrate HLS, transcoding and delivery, with reduced latency and better reliability at scale.

There’s no public rate card. Wowza CDN is quoted on request, based on your audience and delivery needs.

How Wowza Costs Scale as Your Audience Grows

Wowza’s two products scale in different ways:

  • Streaming Engine scales with your infrastructure: instances, transcoded channels, servers and CDN delivery. It gives you a lot of control, and you’ll want to account for hosting, DevOps time and CDN costs alongside the license.
  • Flowplayer OVP scales with hours: ingest, playback and storage. It’s simpler to launch, and your bill follows how much your audience watches.

A simple way to estimate your total cost:

Total cost = platform plan + hosting or CDN + additional channels or hours + storage + support + any payment or monetization tooling you add

Many businesses, though, want something more direct: go live, sell access, protect content and grow, without assembling the stack themselves. That’s where Muvi Live comes in.
